Collaboration

The LIFE SYNFLUOR project aims to recover high-purity synthetic calcium fluoride and precipitated silica from hexafluorosilicic acid, which is a valuable substitute for natural fluorspar (now listed as a critical raw material).

The project involves constructing a pilot plant with the capacity to produce 1,000 tonnes of high-purity synthetic calcium fluoride and 250 tonnes of precipitated silica. The latter will be evaluated by the Z-ONA4LIFE project as a silica raw material for use in adjusting the Al/Si ratio in Z-ONA zeolite production.

This collaboration highlights the synergies that can be achieved when co-funded LIFE projects work together towards shared environmental goals.
