Collaboration

LIFE INFUSION is a project aimed to develop and demonstrate an intensive treatment process for waste effluents, generating valuable and sustainable outputs such as biogas/biomethane, biofertilisers, reclaimed water, and microalgal biomass.

Thanks to the LIFE INFUSION technology train installed at COGERSA’s Open Lab, several liquid streams with varying ammonium concentrations can be produced (e.g. landfill leachate and liquid digestate with more than 1,500 mg N/L, stripped leachate containing ≈500 mg N/L, and effluent after microalgae cultivation with >50 mg N/L). These streams can be evaluated as wastewater inputs for the Z-ONA4LIFE demonstration plant, enabling the testing of Z-ONA zeolites as sorbents for polishing treated effluents with different ammonium levels.

This collaboration highlights the synergies between co‑funded LIFE projects and the complementary pilot plants co‑located at COGERSA’s Open Lab, working together toward shared environmental goals.
