On the 21st of May the Z-ONA4LIFE project is hosting a closed workshop exploring the potential of zeolite production in fostering a circular economy. This workshop brings together experts from various disciplines to share insights and collaborate on shaping the future of zeolite utilisation.

Workshop Goal

The main goal of the workshop is to facilitate interaction and knowledge exchange among experts within the framework of the Z-ONA4LIFE project. It aims to achieve this by providing participants with an understanding of the project's objectives and innovative processes for producing synthetic Z-ONA zeolite. Through interactive discussions, the workshop seeks to address key areas such as research and development, policy and regulations, and industry perspectives related to zeolite utilisation. Ultimately, the workshop aims to identify challenges, opportunities, and potential next steps for advancing zeolite production and utilisation within a circular economy context.

Workshop Structure: Fostering Collaboration for a Circular Future

The Z-ONA4LIFE project has designed a dynamic workshop experience to maximise interaction and knowledge exchange within the allocated two-hour timeframe.

The workshop commences with an introductory session that delves into the core concepts of the Z-ONA4LIFE project. Participants will gain a thorough understanding of the project's goals, its innovative process for producing synthetic Z-ONA zeolite on a pilot scale, and its potential impact on promoting circularity within the aluminium industry.

Following the introduction, the workshop transitions into an interactive session designed to foster collaboration among the participating experts. This session will be a platform for open discussion, focusing on various aspects critical to the future of zeolite utilisation:

  • Research and Development: Discussions will explore cutting-edge advancements and potential breakthroughs in zeolite production technology. Participants can share their expertise on optimising the Z-ONA zeolite production process and explore avenues for further research.
  • Policy and Regulations: The impact of current policy frameworks and regulations on zeolite adoption will be a key focus area. Discussions will aim to identify potential gaps or roadblocks that might hinder wider zeolite utilisation and brainstorm strategies for policy development that encourages a more circular economy.
  • Industry Perspectives: Representatives from various industries can share their practical experiences and insights regarding zeolite usage. This exchange will be invaluable in identifying potential applications for Z-ONA zeolite and exploring the challenges and opportunities associated with its integration into existing industrial processes.

The workshop concludes with a dedicated recap session. Key takeaways and crucial insights gleaned from the discussions will be summarised. This collaborative effort will pave the way for brainstorming potential next steps and charting a course for advancing zeolite production and utilisation within a circular economy framework.

Shaping the Future of Zeolite

Expert input will be instrumental in shaping a blueprint with recommendations for advancing zeolite production and utilisation within the circular economy. This blueprint, formulated based on the workshop discussions, will be shared with policymakers by October 2024.
