
From 3 to 5 September 2025, the island of Madeira welcomed the 7th Wastes International Conference, an event that brought together researchers, companies, and institutions working on waste management, recycling, and circular economy solutions.
The Materials and Energy for a Sustainable Development (MEDES Group) research term from Instituto de Ciencias de la Construcción Eduardo Torroja (IETCC, CSIC) joined the international community of experts to share their latest findings and strengthen collaboration on sustainable waste valorisation.
Spotlight on Z-ONA4LIFE
As part of the programme, Aurora López-Delgado, Research Scientist at IETcc-CSIC and coordinator of Z-ONA4LIFE, presented a poster on the “Effect of the Crystalline or Amorphous Nature of Si-Rich Wastes on the Sustainable Production of Zeolites”.
This work, developed in collaboration with the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), Brazil, highlights the project’s strong commitment to international cooperation and advancing the science of sustainable materials and environmental remediation.
WASTES Conference provided an opportunity to share Z-ONA4LIFE research results, exchange knowledge with international peers, and strengthen collaborations in the field of sustainable waste management.
