The Z-ONA4LIFE consortium gathered in Gijón, Spain, for its sixth Scientific and Technical Committee (S&TC) Meeting and third Steering Committee (SC) Meeting, hosted by partner Alusigma. The event combined a visit to the first Z-ONA4LIFE pilot plant with a full review of progress across all work packages.
During the 6th Scientific and Technical Committee Meeting, partners presented updates on ongoing scientific and technical activities. Key discussions covered the promising results from lab testing of the Z-ONA zeolite for wastewater treatment, the near-completion of the first pilot plant at Alusigma's facility, and the start of design work for a second demonstration plant at COGERSA's site, expected to be operational by December 2026.
The 3rd Steering Committee Meeting focused on the strategic direction of the project, including communications, dissemination, and exploitation activities. The consortium reviewed the website revamp underway, and discussed the business strategy and model being developed to support the pan-European rollout of Z-ONA zeolite.
A highlight of the event was the visit to the first pilot plant at Alusigma's facility, which gave all consortium members the opportunity to see the production line first-hand. The visit reinforced the consortium's shared commitment to advancing Z-ONA4LIFE's objectives and marked a significant milestone in the project's journey from laboratory to pilot scale.
